YouTuber reveals Morrowind’s secret: the rivers in the game aren’t rivers

Any Austin, a popular YouTuber, recently published a new study that reveals one of Morrowind’s oldest legends. In his video, he proves that the rivers on the island of Vvardenfell are not rivers at all, as we thought. Yes, they are wet, but that’s all: they don’t have the flow of real rivers. Instead, these “rivers” are more like long, useless lakes or slow-moving water features that aren’t rivers at all.

In this video, Any Austin uses real hydrology to explain the geographic decisions of early 2000s planners. He analyzes the tectonic features of the Red Mountain volcano, gives real examples of bodies of water, and even cites a 1983 scientific paper to prove his point. However, as often happens in investigations, the last part of the video completely contradicts the arguments raised before. It turned out that these reservoirs are just long natural puddles that do not exist for a specific purpose.

This detail, while fun, is reminiscent of Morrowind’s virtual world conventions. Despite this, the game was still good, with deep lore and interesting events.
