YouTube will give paid subscriptions to users: Everything you need to know | Does it copy Twitch’s strategy?

The platform YouTube announced that it will allow content creators to give away subscriptions to different channels. Thus, users will be able to enjoy, among other things, accessing YouTube videos without ads.

Although subscriptions are free on all the channels on the platform, a few years ago YouTube launched so-called memberships, which allow access to exclusive content and other benefits.

Does it copy Twitch’s strategy?

Imitating the strategy implemented by the platform TwitchYouTube announced the beta version of a new feature, called Memberships Gifting or gift memberships, which will allow you to purchase paid subscriptions and then give them away to viewers of a live broadcast.

As clarified from YouTube, the gift memberships were granted to a small group of users from the United States and the United Kingdom. In this way, the members of the channel will have the possibility to buy 5, 10 or 20 memberships that will later be delivered to other users.

The strategy of giving away YouTube memberships is exactly the same as giving away subscriptions on Twitch. It is about buying a certain amount of memberships of a channel to give them to people who are watching the direct of that channel. YouTube will automatically assign them to viewers without charging anything, while the content creator will receive the amount that corresponds to them for those subscriptions.

How to try Youtube for free?

To access YouTube for free (YouTube Premium), you must log in with the user in the YouTube application and press the blue button that says “Try it for free”.

Next, the data must be completed. In this way, YouTube sends an email where you enable the subscription for a month.

Likewise, seven days before the free trial ends, YouTube will also send a reminder email so that the user can cancel or decide to continue with the subscription.

YouTube without ads

The monthly subscription to YouTube Premium in Argentina costs about 119 pesos in its Individual Planwhich allows access to a single user.

The other alternative is the Family Plan, which costs 179 pesos. It allows you to share your membership with up to 5 members of your environment, as long as they are over 13 years old.

In this plan, users are required to have the same residence address.
