YouTube Testing Policy to Disable Video Access for Users with Ad-Blocking Software

Posted: Jul 1, 2023 05:02 GMT

After three preventive notices, the platform would block the reproduction of videos for users who insisted on using a ‘software’ to block ads.

YouTube is testing the ability to disable access to videos for users using ad-blocking apps, according to reported this Friday the Android Authority portal.

“We’re running a small experiment globally encouraging viewers with ad blockers to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium,” a company spokesperson said.

The platform claims that it takes disabling video playback “very seriously”, which would only be activated when users repeatedly ignore the three preventive ads it will display on the screen.

“Ad blocker detection is not new, and other publishers regularly ask viewers to disable ad blockers,” the spokesperson said.
