YouTube Shorts wants to be more like TikTok with these new features

Everyone wants to be like TikTok. Just yesterday, in fact, YouTube advertisement a series of interesting new features for its short video platform, YouTube Shorts. Among them, the possibility that the creators share 3 minute videosavailable from October 15, and the incorporation of the new Remix featurewhich allows you to use a video that you like as a template to create a new one, something very similar to what the CapCut video editor does, with the difference that here we are not talking about a app apart. On the contrary, so that users are up to date with the news, YouTube Shorts has also announced the arrival of a trends sectionin which all the most important contents will be collected trends of your country.

Who do you look like, YouTube?

As innovative as they may seem, it’s pretty clear that the new YouTube Shorts options are designed to better compete with TikTokwhich already allows users to access the platform’s trends to make new content, as well as make and share long-duration videos (between 10 and 60 minutes). Not in vain, to better engage its community and manage to unseat its Chinese competitor, YouTube The Shorts interface has also been improvedtrying to highlight the video content shared by the creators as much as possible.

Precisely for this reason, it has decided change the layout of interaction icons that appear on the right of the screen, such as Like, Comment, Share and the like, opting for a contoured rather than complete design, so as not to hide even a small part of the content. For the same reason, the space dedicated to the creator’s name, caption, and music information has been significantly reduced, to the point that users are forced to tap the “More” option to read the full text. But these are not the only updates for users. According to the advertisement, YouTube will also allow users customize how often you see shorts on your feedwith the option “Show fewer shorts”.
