Lubach on Sunday in his talk show against the algorithms that social media companies use. He spoke of a “myth trap”, which people quickly end up in if they only get their information from social media such as YouTube and Facebook.
Because of the algorithms behind this, people mainly get to see information and videos that match their interests. They are therefore one-sided and are also becoming increasingly extreme, because people just love sensation and because the social media earn their money by selling as many videos as possible, Lubach argued.
“Most of you are thinking now, I hope, what the f * ck is this?” Lubach said on his show. “I had that too, until I recently started clicking around a bit on YouTube. There are a lot of people there who believe that our reality is not correct.”
Lubach said on Twitter today that he also does not find censorship the solution.
