YouTube offers free TV shows with commercials in the US – IT Pro – News

YouTube has uploaded more than 4,000 episodes of television shows such as Hell’s Kitchen and Midsomer Murders in the United States. The episodes are free to watch, but commercials are shown during the videos.

YouTube announces the introduction of the television programs on its platform in a blog and the episodes are also available immediately available stated. The shows are currently only available in the US. If you want to go to the television shows from the Netherlands, you will get a blank page. On its blog, YouTube has not disclosed anything about making television shows available in other countries.

In addition to the dozens of series that YouTube now has online, the platform adds 1500 films to its range. Everything can be streamed for free, although advertisements are shown. YouTube writes that it wants to add “up to 100 new titles” to the offer every week.

YouTube seems to be directly competing with streaming services. The revenue model resembles that of Roku and Plex, where you can also stream free programs with advertising. You can buy off these ads by subscribing to YouTube Premium, which makes the service more like Netflix and Disney+.
