YouTube confirms that they will now be able to show ads during video breaks

A couple of weeks ago we reported on YouTube’s plan to start showing ads during video breaks. The company’s experiment was taking shape, but now it has been confirmed.

YouTube will start showing ads in the pause menu

Now, YouTube confirma that advertisers can target your paused screen time. It was YouTube’s communications director, Oluwa Falodun, who confirmed that “We’ve seen a great response from both advertisers and viewers, so we’ve rolled out pause ads to all advertisers.”

YouTube claims that the ads paused ads are designed to allow the company to offer a “less interruptive” experience, but it didn’t tell us that its regular ads will appear less frequently as a result.

The bad news doesn’t stop there for those who use standard YouTube and not the Premium service. Currently, YouTube has become the worst experience for those who don’t pay for the Premium service, but now even those who pay will be affected by the measure.

We also do not know if the measure will be extended to Chile, but surely as the days go by, we will have more clarity.
