Australian pop rock boyband 5 Seconds of Summer will close the European part of their world tour on October 12 in the sports hall at the Prague Exhibition Centre. This was announced by the Live Nation agency, which organizes the concert, on Thursday evening. The band will come to the Czech capital for the second time, last year they made their debut in the O2 universum hall.
Tickets for prices starting at 990 crowns will be on sale in the Ticketmaster and Ticketportal networks from next Friday, April 14. The group, which mixes pop or R&B with electronics and whose first three studio albums reached the top of the Billboard 200, will release a concert recording called The Feeling of Falling Upwards before returning to Prague. She recorded it last year in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
“The album is simply to describe to you the feeling that we experienced together, the feeling that we threw ourselves into such a fickle thing as music. And we shared this experience together year after year,” advises singer and drummer Ashton Irwin.
Alongside him, 5 Seconds of Summer consists of singing guitarists Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford with bassist Calum Hood. They started in 2011, when they became visible on the YouTube server with acoustic covers of songs by And Eda Sheeran or Justin Bieber. Their rise to fame was helped two years later when they preceded the better-known boy band One Direction on a tour called Take Me Home. Today, 5 Seconds of Summer have sold over 13 million records and three million concert tickets worldwide. Their songs have received over 7 billion plays on streaming services.
Other well-known performers will also perform in the Czech capital this year. Already on May 24 and 25, Roger Waters, a founding member of the British band Pink Floyd, who has been acting as a supporter of Russia in the war in Ukraine, will perform in Prague’s O2 arena. Iron Maiden will perform at the same venue on May 30 and 31, performing songs from the current studio album Senjutsu as well as the well-known record Somewhere In Time from the 1980s.
American Kiss will next visit the O2 Arena on June 10, while Depeche Mode, without Andy Fletcher, who died last year, will perform on July 30 at Prague’s Letňany Airport. There, the Live Nation agency is also planning a concert by the Canadian singer The Weeknd or two parts of the Prague Rocks music festival.
On June 2, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard will perform at the first one, dedicated to rock music, plus the Czech band Kabát as a guest. The second part on June 21 will be focused on more mainstream artists, alongside Maroon 5 and singers Gwen Stefani and Delta Goodrem, singers Rag’n’Bone Man and James Bay will perform. The Czech line is represented in the program by Vojtěch Dyk with the band DYK and the group Lake Malawi.
