Youth work: SAK wants to strengthen the bond with young people – Lörrach

Re-tying the bond

The SAK is making great efforts to renew and strengthen ties with as many young people in the city as possible. Employees are specifically approaching young people to make the Old Waterworks’ services better known again. Personal contacts are particularly important for young people: relationship building.

In the past, the numerous concerts also contributed to this: 60 to 80 bands performed on the stage of the Old Waterworks before the pandemic, now there are “a maximum of 20,” he says – also because they have become more expensive.

“It’s now about the attractiveness of the location for the next generation of young people,” explains Rausch. Although there are individual groups that regularly use youth rooms, the center is still lacking teenagers who were reached before the Corona closure.

Rausch feels that he is receiving reliable support from the city. Mayor Jörg Lutz has kept his word: the building has been kept in good condition even in difficult times. Now the main focus is on making the Old Waterworks the place it always was: a low-threshold, attractive and well-known contact point for young people and families in Lörrach.
