The challenges currently arising in implementing youth work due to Covid-19 are enormous and require creative and alternative solutions in many places.
Below we would like to introduce you to how youth work currently works at the Albvereinsjugend.
The planned annual program of the Swabian Alb Association Youth is still severely restricted in accordance with the applicable regulations and the federal emergency brake. Neither the trial weekend camp nor the Easter camp nor the planned JuLeiCa training courses could take place in person this year. We were able to offer digital alternatives for week-long free periods or our JuLeiCa I course (see article here on the homepage). In this way we maintain contact with our target group and our participants.
Current reports on the progress of the vaccination campaign as well as falling incidence rates give hope that our programs can be experienced again in the summer and can take place on site.
Our teams for summer camps and camps are still planning despite the current uncertainty as to the conditions under which events can take place. Among other things, the preparatory course for the Fuchsfarm camp will take place via video conference over the weekend after Ascension Day. Taking into account the federal emergency brake and state regulations, we are trying to create a framework that offers children and young people the opportunity to spend their free time in a positive and enriching way.
If our events do not fully meet our quality standards and safe implementation can be guaranteed in the current pandemic situation, we reserve the right to cancel them if necessary in the interests of our team members and participants.
Our leisure and camp teams are still waiting for framework conditions and guidelines that will hopefully give us more security in planning and action.
Like many other youth associations, we expect a prompt response from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs on how we, as child and youth welfare providers, can meet the needs of our participants.
