In our country, youth policy is an important component of state policy, and attention and care for young people is one of the priority directions. Today’s youth of Azerbaijan is built on sound basic principles. The founder of this basic principle is our National Leader Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev. The national leader Heydar Aliyev valued the youth policy as one of the most important activities of the independent Azerbaijan state.
At the 1st Forum held on February 2, 1996, Heydar Aliyev set a historic task for the youth, saying that “every Azerbaijani youth should think about the present and future of independent Azerbaijan.” On February 2, 1996, for the first time, the youth form of the independent state was written in the history of Azerbaijan as Youth Day. Thus, since 1997, February 2 has been celebrated as Youth Day in Azerbaijan by presidential decree.
President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, who duly continued the political course of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, further improved the development direction of the youth policy. Thus, the State programs related to the youth of Azerbaijan were adopted, 2007 was declared the “Year of the Youth”, the Youth Fund was created in 2011, the “Presidential Award for Youth” was established for the first time in the country in 2013, the Development of the Youth of Azerbaijan The strategy was confirmed.
In particular, it should be noted that the youth policy of Azerbaijan pays special attention to the development of sports and increasing its popularity. Thanks to the attention and care of the President Mr. Ilham Aliyev to sports, Azerbaijan has become one of the leading sports countries in the world. The fact that 43 Olympic Sports Complexes operate in our republic today, that our country hosts prestigious international sports competitions, and the successful performances of our athletes in the Olympic and world championships are a clear proof of this.
The priority of national and state interests in youth politics played a decisive role in the 44-day Patriotic War. The main mission in the war was performed by young people who grew up during the presidency of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Today, our heroic young people were awarded high orders and medals by the state, and they are an example for our future generations.
Today, the youth of Azerbaijan is closely united around the President of the country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and represents our country at the international level.
