“We have to make choices and we make those choices in function of our target audience,” says Katrien Van der Slycken, head of Young at VRT NWS. The team behind “Karrewiet” saw that its target group, children from 9 to 12 years old, was less and less on Instagram. “With “Karrewiet” we want to be present on the channels where children are present, so that we can provide them with reliable news. And most children are now mainly on TikTok,” says Van der Slycken.
