Before the pupils of the Waldorf school in Klagenfurt left for the holidays, they organized a “Coffee to help” for children in need in Nairobi together with youngCaritas Carinthia. “Children who do not have the same opportunities as we do to have access to education and school is very important to us. That’s why we really wanted to collect for this project,” said the girls and boys from the upper school.
Youth engagement
Together with teachers Silvia Velik, Ulrike Wöhlert, Ursula Zwillink, Daniel Schöffmann and Elisabeth Schleicher, the ninth, tenth and eleventh graders distributed coffee and delicious cakes for a good cause in front of the school on Porschestraße. The sweets were homemade: mostly by the young people themselves, partly by their mothers.
570 euros for children in Nairobi
Creative posters and donation boxes drew attention to “Coffee to help”. Coffee pots and cake buffet were soon empty. In just under two and a half hours, the young people were able to collect around 570 euros for children in Nairobi. Ramona Janesch from youngCaritas thanks them wholeheartedly for this cool campaign: “We are always pleased and impressed with the great commitment young people show to other people in need and specifically to children in Africa to improve their situation improve.”
