They are 16 and 17 and want to make a difference. Oulida Hassan and Settyna Aniouman were elected administrators of the MJC. They will carry the voice of young people.
They have not yet participated in a general assembly but their will to get involved is there. Settyna Aniouman, 17, and Oulida Hassan, 16, were elected administrators of the Maison des jeunes et de la culture (MJC) in the Fontbouillant district less than a year ago. An unusual event in the community of social centers where decision-makers are rather old. “The administrators judged that some young people were mature enough to take on these tasks, indicates Elodie Morat of the federation of social centers of Allier. It’s complicated to have activities aimed at young people run by people who are not concerned.“
“Their mission will be to be a relay on the ground.“
What it can change for young people
Dance fans, the two teenagers will have their say on the prices of the activities or even the times at which they are offered. They will also serve as spokespersons for their comrades. “They bring up the needs of MJC members to the board of directors, Elodie Morat added. Their mission will be to be a relay on the ground.”
To carry out this mission, Oulida Hassan ensures that she will go to meet all the managers and members of other activities. “I want to see all that this role entails“, Assures the young woman of the City Dunlop.
A springboard for
their association
Being elected to the board of directors will also allow Oulida and Settyna to give a new dimension to their association. “We wanted to create something related to the ine ”, continues Oulida Hassan. The group is called G’nération AfroProdig’s and the challenge for the two friends will be to find grants and partnerships. “The Blanzat Sport Montluçon (BSM) allows us to have visibility by allowing us to dance on the floor during halves and time-outs. ” The association is also helped by Créa’Sublime which provides them with outfits for shows.
Understand what is
an administrator
After 3 years as a member and then a volunteer at the MJC, Oulida will therefore take on a new dimension in the place. “She must now understand how a MJC works and the function of an administrator.“, Explains Elodie Morat. Oulida will also have to find a place among the 20 other members of the board of directors. She will have a voice to be heard during the votes just like her friend Settyna. For this girl from the Fontbouillant district who has been attending the MJC since she was 7 years old, joining the management is a culmination. “I wanted to do something more important“, She justifies.
