‘Youth Hope Savings’, launched two years ago, gained sensational popularity with its unprecedented interest rate, right?
Now the two-year expiration is approaching.
In the meantime, the government created the ‘Youth Leap Account’, which provides great benefits to young people, allowing young people who have reached the expiration of their hope savings to transfer it as is.
However, there have recently been reports that people who applied for this type of transfer were rejected.
When I found out the reason, they said it was because of military service.
Somehow, the report was reported by MBC reporter Ryu Hyeon-jun.

During the last administration, in February 2022, a savings product was launched to help those new to society become economically independent.
It was a youth hope savings account that only those aged 19 to 34 could sign up for.

″With the influx of applications for the Youth Hope Savings Savings Account, there has even been talk that applications may close early if the budget is exhausted.″
Those who consistently put in 500,000 won per month will now receive about 13 million won at the end of two years.
The informant, Mr. Kim, 24 years old, also expired this month.
Mr. Kim decided to transfer his money to the Youth Leap Account to save more money.
The Youth Leap Account is a youth support policy of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration that increases the maturity period compared to the previous government’s Hope Savings Account, but also increases government support and broadens the scope of subscription.

″It has become necessary to support young people to build assets in the mid to long term.″
If Hope Savings subscribers like Mr. Kim switch to a leap account, they will also receive tax-exempt benefits.
Last month, ahead of the expiration date, Mr. Kim applied for a transfer to the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, but the result was “no transfer.”

″Why is this not met? When I called here (the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency), they said no because I would not have any income in 2022.”
In order to increase the motivation to work, it was required to have a record of earning money through work in order to receive financial benefits, but the explanation is that since Mr. Kim has no taxable income, transfer is not possible.
However, 2022 was the period during which Mr. Kim served in the military.
Soldiers’ salaries for compulsory service are exempt from taxation, so there is no record of taxable income.

″There was no way to do anything. No, the thought is, ‘I came back from the military and they said I wouldn’t be able to do it?’”
If this continues, it will not be possible to sign up for a leap account or transfer even if you receive cash for military service or part-time work expenses without reporting income.

″As of now, the tax law is based on income, and the standard itself does not seem to be completely unreasonable.″
However, when the coverage began, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance stated, “We will consider whether to allow an exception in the case of soldiers.”
