Borussia Dortmund was able to retain youngster Youssoufa Moukoko (18) for the long term after tough negotiations. The BVB striker signed a new contract until 2026. However, a certain clause is missing in the freshly printed working paper.
As Sport1 reports, Moukoko’s representatives initially insisted on a low-paying exit clause that would only have applied to FC Barcelona. However, BVB wants to cash in big in the event of an early departure and has therefore rejected the mini exit clause.
Barça spoke to the German international earlier this winter, whose contract would have expired next summer. In the end, there was no agreement, probably because the attacker was afraid of the tough competition from the Spaniards. However, Moukoko does not rule out a change at a later date. Especially since he has been enthusiastic about FC Barcelona since childhood.
BVB jewel Moukoko speaks of “decision of the heart”
Meanwhile, Moukoko justified his contract extension with his love for Borussia. “Of course I was honored by the interest of other clubs, but in the end it’s a decision of the heart,” said the storm talent in a club statement. “The fans have always supported me and I want to give something back to them and the club.”

In addition, Moukoko sees the best conditions in Dortmund to lay the foundation for a successful career. “I feel the trust of the coaching staff and I have an environment here in which I can develop perfectly.”
Borussia’s salary offer should also have made it easier to sign the new contract. According to information from the Ruhr Nachrichten, the best BVB scorer of the current season is now raking in six million euros gross per year, half of which is guaranteed to go to Moukoko’s account. The left foot has to unlock the other three million via bonuses.
The goalgetter also received ten million euros in bonus money for his loyalty. Moukoko’s consulting agency pocketed another five million euros for the completed deal, which kept the parties busy for almost a year.
