The Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (Gdiz) received this Wednesday, January 18, 2023, the visit of the famous Senegalese singer Youssou N’dour. Accompanied by a Beninese delegation made up of several Ministers, he went to see firsthand the industrial transformation of Benin through this Zone.
Artist, employer, celebrity, businessman, former minister…! All these caps, Youssou N’dour has them, thus becoming a world reference. On a visit to Benin, he went to Gdiz, the lung of Benin’s new industrial policy. On his arrival in the Zone and accompanied by some Senegalese economic operators, he first, in the presence of the Ministers of Justice and that of trade and industry of Benin, benefited from a presentation on a model of the Zone. With the Sipi-Benin team, the visitors of the day tasted through the explanations, a foretaste of all the major projects and achievements, intended for the Zone. Then, place was left to the guided tour of some industries already functional in the Zone. Thus, Youssou N’dour and the whole delegation were able to fervently visit the textile and cashew nut processing factory. At the end of this hike, Youssou N’dour finally let go. In his intervention, he said he was happy to see what he saw on this site. That is to say, he acknowledges, a very clear vision of the industry from Benin. “I think a country looks a little bit like the dynamics of its leader. And President Patrice Talon, everyone knows his leadership. He has an understanding of economic life in an extraordinary way. His vision is translated by what we live here. A country that wants to develop necessarily needs to go through industrialization. I wanted to thank him and say that Benin is an investment space for investors. We came to see the opportunities there are. All of this spoke to us a lot. We will come back,” he promised.
