The red carpet of the fourth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival witnessed the presence of a large number of art stars, including Yusra, Laila Alawi, Elham Shaheen, Menna Shalaby, Ahmed El Sakka, his wife, Amina Khalil, Belba, Aisha bin Ahmed, Khaled Al Sawy, Nasreen Tafesh, Sabri Fawaz, Reem Mustafa, the singer Abu and his wife, Raya Abi Rashid and Aiten Amer.
The opening night will witness the screening of the movie “The Man Who Sold His Back” by Tunisian director Kawthar Ben Haniyeh, which premiered internationally at the Venice Festival after its screening in the Horizons section. The film’s hero, Yahya Maheeni, won the Best Actor award, and the film also won the Adebo King Award for inclusion, which is A prize inspired by the principles of social cooperation.
The film participated as a project in the development phase two years ago at the El Gouna Film Platform, in the second session of the El Gouna Film Festival, and it is screened and directed by Kawthar Ben Haneya, starring Yehia Maheeni, world star Monica Belluci, Dia Elian, Queen de Bo.
The film depicts the journey of the Syrian young man, Sam Ali, who immigrated to Lebanon, escaping the ongoing war in Syria. In one of the art galleries, he meets “Geoffrey Godfra”, the most famous artist in the field of contemporary art, and they reach a strange agreement of its kind. “Sam” made him a live work of art, in exchange for a visa to travel to meet his girlfriend in Belgium.
The festival is keen to provide a safe session and in order to achieve safety, security and social divergence measures regarding the Corona epidemic (Covid-19), the festival assigns a special safety team, to assume full responsibility for monitoring and implementing health and safety protocols before, during and after the festival ends..
