Your sister’s garden in Bordeaux – France Bleu

The Bordeaux-Maritime region continues to transform. An old wasteland has been transformed into a shared garden.

Your sister’s garden was created in 2003 in the heart of Chartrons in Bordeaux on waste land after certain collectives and residents’ associations have been displaced. In 2011 and 2012, partner projects helped create the sculpture “La Mermaid”, build the pergola and renovate the vegetable garden. But in 2021, the polluted state of the site pushed the city of Bordeaux to consider re-licensing the garden. A public meeting gave local residents the opportunity to address the construction of a cani park, new shared gardens and a playground.

A “life-size” project!

This consultation ultimately resulted in the development of a dog track on the 426 m2 garden grounds, the planting 75 trees including 22 fruit trees, extension of the playground with the creation of a new area dedicated to the little ones, the establishment of benches, picnic tables and drinking fountains. The “Sister’s Garden” update will be presented in detail on November 25 at the same time as the presentation of the rest of the project “Life-size Bordeaux”.
