Gomez is a storyteller, which is not the easiest way to earn a living, but it satisfies Gomez on so many levels. It has allowed him to express himself at various storytelling events here and nationally, making him a major force on that scene, especially as a curator, producer, and host of a powerful traveling storytelling show. His “80 Minutes Around the World” is dedicated to the stories of “immigrants, descendants of immigrants, friends and allies of immigrants.” Created in response to the anti-immigrant policies of the previous presidential administration, it premiered in 2017 at the Lifeline Theater in Chicago and subsequently performed on stages in Kentucky, New York and local venues. It has been presented at the Steppenwolf Theater.
