After his long struggle with prostate cancer, Dexter Scott King, the youngest son of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King, bid farewell to life at the age of 62, according to what the King Center in Atlanta announced on Monday.

Dexter Scott King, the youngest son of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King, died Monday of prostate cancer at age 62, the King Center in Atlanta announced.
His wife, Leah Weber King, said: “He passed away in his sleep at his home in Malibu, California.”
She added, “He did everything in his power and fought this terrible disease until the end. He faced this ordeal with courage and strength, as he did with all the challenges he faced in his life.”
Dexter King was born in Atlanta on January 30, 1961, and was named after the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama where his father first served as pastor.
He was 7 years old when his father was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1968.
