‘Life stops’
Bibi was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was a long and intense journey: she had to undergo chemotherapy and her breasts were also removed. “You actually have to go to the hospital almost every day. This has had a very big influence on my life.” All the plans Bibi had had to make waiting to be put. “I had just finished my studies, I was about to start my first job and I was leaving the house. I had to stop all this.”
Appreciate the little things
Bibi is now well and can look to the future with a positive feeling. “Since you’ve been sick and have been able to do so little, you begin to appreciate more things that seem obvious. Like your health, I never thought about it at that age.”
Bibi hopes her story will make other young people aware of the importance of going to the doctor when you think something is wrong. “ORit’s okay if it’s not at all I also wish I was gone sooner. I think it’s good that more and more attention is being paid to it now. “
