A 22-year-old student took legal action and filed a complaint for involuntary injuries and hit-and-run after being hit in Bordeaux, reports South West.
The facts date back to October 5. As she returned by scooter from her day of training, around 3 p.m., she was hit by a black sedan while crossing the pedestrian crossing. “I saw the car moving in slow motion, my light was green. I thought it was going to stop… But it started to accelerate,” she says. The young woman takes the handlebars of her scooter in her stomach. “It gave me whiplash.” The driver lowers his window, apologizes before leaving, according to him. The student then burst into tears.

The next day, his school encouraged him to file a complaint. She goes to the police station again, but is convinced to only drop off a handrail. She then receives a phone call from the mayor’s driver, who says he is deeply sorry, and wants to find an arrangement. “He called me back several times so that things wouldn’t go any further. At one point, I told him that enough was enough.”

She then went to the police station a third time to file a complaint. “A police officer explains to me that if I file a complaint, I could have problems, my scooter is not insured.” Lost, she then decided to turn directly to the Bordeaux prosecutor. “I don’t blame anyone. But I had an accident, no one gets out, I’m injured. Nothing in this story is normal!”
Bordeaux town hall confirms with South West that Pierre Hurmic was indeed a passenger in the vehicle involved in the collision. “The driver explains that he had just started at the green light when the scooter hit the left front fender of the vehicle. He stopped suddenly. He inquired about the victim’s condition before leaving. The driver offered to park but the young woman continued on her way,” municipal services explained to our colleagues.
