His mother, Jeanina Castellanos, indicated that her son was a good person, who was going to graduate next month.
“He was excellent, he would pick up his daughter in the afternoon, bathe her and leave her ready to go to work,” said Castellanos, originally from Nicaragua.
For his part, the young man’s father, a man originally from Cuba identified as Jorge Castellanos, thanked the media for giving visibility to his son’s case, stating that the police were still investigating the case.
“So far we don’t have much information,” he says, is the response given by the police every time they are asked for specific details of what happened.
The Miami-Dade police report indicates that a group of people began to argue at the bar located in CityPlace Doral, and that Castellanos tried to intervene, but was hit by a bullet after one of those involved pulled out a gun. fire.
There were two police officers near the scene, who arrived at the scene before the shooter could escape, so a confrontation occurred. In this, one of the officers was wounded, as were several of those present, however, the shooter was killed by the authorities.
The subject was later identified as Jamal Wayne Wood, 37, who did not reside in El Doral. Both the young Cuban and the shooter were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the media News 23, Castellanos’ family was looking for him in several nearby hospitals during the early hours of the morning, but the search ended when they were notified of his death.
“I’m sad, because he was a very good person and he didn’t do anything bad to anyone,” said Miguel Castellanos, brother of the young security guard.
