In a speech to the population, Lieutenant Governor of Bonaire, Edison Rijna, expressed his disappointment about the behavior of many on Friday evening. Friday evening, April 24, was the first night that catering establishments could reopen and that the curfew and the alcohol ban were lifted. Rijna says he is very disappointed that many people have taken advantage of the new situation Bonaire is now in.
Young people gathered in large groups on Friday evening without keeping a meter and a half distance. There were a lot of drunk people in the street and the music was playing too loud.
“I understand the need to be free and to meet other people. But what happened yesterday is too bad for words. It’s unacceptable and unacceptable. ” Says Rijna.
