Fifteen eighteen-year-olds from the Burgas region had the opportunity to travel around Romania, Hungary and Austria for free by rail, participating in a project of the “Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria” Foundation, related to the DiscoverEU initiative under the Erasmus+ program.
The goal of the project was for young people from small settlements in the Burgas region and without experience in traveling abroad to visit and get to know other European countries.
In the period August 30 – September 8, they were able to visit important and interesting sights in the capitals of the countries they visited, as well as other nearby cities. Participants gained confidence in traveling outside of Bulgaria without their parents, created many new friendships, increased their practical skills in planning and organization, teamwork, time management and decision making.
The trip also aimed to instill an attitude towards environmental protection, using rail transport as the most environmentally friendly, and the youngsters carried reusable water bottles and recycled in the designated areas.
The trip took place under the project “Let’s discover Europe together” under the Erasmus+ Program, funded by the EU.
