Young people from peri-urban areas of Bolivia will be trained to utilize Tik Tok and YouTube to showcase their cultural heritage.

Young people from rural areas of Bolivia, Honduras and Colombia will learn how to use Tik Tok and YouTube to promote their culture.

This initiative is promoted by ICCO Cooperación/Conexión and has the support of the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Swedish Embassy in Bolivia.

They will benefit 300 young people from peri-urban areas, who will receive training in the use of social networks.

Some digital Influencers will share their experiences and “tips” with them, so that they “learn to create valuable content to highlight their traditions, cultures, economic potential and approaches to rural life.”

STAKE
Those who wish to participate must fill out a simple registration form that will be published on the official website of the initiative: www.videosrurales.org and on the Facebook pages of ICCO Latin America Cooperation and Latin America Connection.

Those registered will receive a username and password to access the training materials and will have the possibility of receiving technical support in the preparation and development of their audiovisual content.

CONTEST
Subsequently, the young people who are trained as experts in social networks will participate in a contest to select the best proposals and will receive the necessary support to make their plans to create channels that generate creative and unique digital content a reality.

The presentation of this call was made on Friday, March 17 at the Manq’a de Sopocachi restaurant, in La Paz, in front of representatives of the organizing entities, young influencers of the public of interest, the media and interested citizens.

BACKGROUND
The initiative had its first experience with IFAD support in 2021, in Bolivia. This called for 240 boys and girls who participated in virtual and face-to-face workshops and learned audiovisual techniques, management of digital platforms, scriptwriting, public speaking, production and management of the YouTube platform.

This experience concluded with the production of 10 stories filmed in the places of origin of the participants.
