KRISTIANSAND: At 9.30 pm, the police moved out to Vardåsveien on Søm, after a youth riot in the area by the mission church.

– The police are on site in connection with a report of fighting and fireworks that are partly fired at each other, the police inform about the incident at Søm, and add:

– There are many young people who are unable to behave.

In addition, fireworks are also fired at Voiebyen, Tinnheia and at Birkeland.

A leader of the youth club in Randesund Mission Church says to Fædrelandsvennen on the spot that they had around a hundred young people in the church on Friday night.

At the same time, around 50 young people gathered below the church, by the Vardås line, who were not at their event. They started setting off fireworks, which is said to have happened three Fridays in a row.

These will be young people from several parts of the city.

Ask parents to follow

Operations Manager Audun Eide in the Agder police district encourages parents to have better control over what the young people do.

– There are many young people at both Søm and Voie. What they have in common is that they shoot a lot of fireworks. Many callers have reported, says Eide.

He says it disturbs both humans and animals and that it is dangerous.

– We do the best we can by talking to the youth. But we also want to ask parents to follow along. This launch takes place well beyond the winter. It is illegal, and few are old enough, says Audun Eide.

Later in the evening, the police also report that fireworks are being fired at Tinnheia.

– Several reports of young people firing fireworks, including at a bus stop on the spot. There are many young people present, the police inform at 22.20.

Later in the evening it turns out that there is also a problem in other municipalities. From Valtjønnveien on Birkeland, neighbors also complain.
