At the French indoor athletics championships, the first day of which took place today (Saturday, February 20, 2021) in Miramas (Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region), Robertine Laeticia Bapte wins the title of elite French champion in the 60 meters hurdles in 8 seconds and 38 hundredths.
This time constitutes the best French performance of the year and allows it to reach the minimums for the European Championships.
Laetitia Bapte had refined her preparation across the Atlantic over the last fortnight with the Guadeloupean team Ketty Cham. An investment that paid off.
Aymerick Priam confirm
Another sprinter to win a title, Aymerick Priam of Racing Club Martinique. He became champion of France hope in the 60 meters flat in 6’74 ”, a time that made him the new champion of France and best performer Hope in the specialty.
Finally Leelou Martial Ehoule of Good Luck is vice-champion of France junior in the 60 meters flat in 7’59 ” only 5 small hundredths of the Martinique record for the specialty held by Adriana Lamalle since 1999.
Leelou Martial Ehoule as well as Aymerick Priam had taken the plane only Thursday evening (February 18, 2021) and they will be back in the country this Sunday evening (Sunday February 21, 2021).
Honor to the best French athletes
The French indoor athletics championships are organized every year by the French Athletics Federation and recognize the best French athletes on the indoor track. This weekend, the French indoor athletics championships take place in Miramas.
This year, the elite category and the youth categories (hopefuls, juniors, cadets) are competing on the same weekend and under the same roof.
Some athletes will try to achieve the level of performance required for the European Championships in Torun (Poland).
