Young man shot at Stovner – no one arrested – VG

A young man was shot in the stomach in Oslo on Monday night. He was found just across the road from the police station at Stovner.

– When we arrive, we find a person shot in the stomach in the parking lot. We are now chasing a perpetrator, said Svein Arild Jørundland, police chief of operations at the scene on Monday night.

At 01.40, operations manager Tor Gulbrandsen tells VG that they continue with a heavy presence at Stovner, and that a search is underway and crime scene work is underway. He further says that the man who was shot is now conscious.

– The victim has finished the first treatment, and he is awake, and we will interrogate him as soon as possible.

At 03.22, the police write on Twitter that still no one has been arrested after the incident.

– The police have carried out a number of investigative steps, and are working to review all information.

To the police, it appears that the young man was shot in an underpass by Fossumveien.

– We work at two crime scenes, one is where we think the person was shot, and the other is where he was found. Both of these areas are secured, and we are conducting a crime scene investigation at both of these places, Gulbrandsen told VG late Monday night.

The police have searched several places in and around Stovner in the search for both people and objects. The police helicopter that previously assisted in the search was graduated due to demanding weather conditions.

Task leader Jørundland said around 22.00 that they currently do not know anything about the reason for the shooting.

– We are investigating whether the man belongs to the criminal environment in Oslo. We have some tracks we follow, but more than that I will not say now, he said.

He also pointed out that there is no reason to be worried about the public in the area, and justifies it with the large police presence.

Heard a bang

– I was at home and was actually going out shopping. Then I heard a pretty loud bang, Henrik Haugetun told VG.

He lives right next door, and said that he did not really think much about it when it slams a little on the weekends.

– But it is not common with bangs in the middle of a weekday. Then I came down and saw there is a lot of police both here and there.

Haugetun thinks the bang he heard was louder than usual.

– I heard it very well. It was a very loud bang.

– How does it feel to get it so close to where you live?

– It’s very disgusting. It has never happened here before while I have lived here, he told VG on Monday night.

Aysha Rizwan (21) did not witness the shooting itself, but still experienced much of the drama when she was on her way home from work:

– I got off at the subway station. Then I heard sirens and some boys shouting. Some were carried in an ambulance.

– I think it is sick that something like that can happen, she adds.

More shootings

Since mid-August, eight people have been shot in the capital.

At the beginning of October turned 20 years old Hamse Hashi Adan Skutt at Lofsrud school at Mortensrud in Oslo. He died of his injuries the next day.

A man is arrested and charged with complicity in murder, and two people are wanted internationally for murder or complicity in murder.
