Young man kidnaps ex-girlfriend, crashes car and is injured after confronting police in Manhattan

A 19-year-old Hispanic young man He had allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and was trying to kill himself, he was injured after confronting the police this morning in Washington Heights.

The events were reported at 3:00 in the morning at the intersection of Haven Avenue and West 177th Street.

The police reported at a press conference that two officers responded to a report of a possibly stolen vehicle had been involved in an accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers approached the black car and saw the driver and a woman inside.

The police shot him in the chest on a couple of occasions.

The man was taken to Harlem Hospital where he is undergoing surgery and is expected to survive.
