A young resident of Santiago de Cuba was seriously injured after being stabbed by several people while leaving a party organized on the emblematic Pacho Alonso dance floor, behind the Heredia Theater, at the entrance to the city.
According to Cuban journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, the victim was identified as the young Wilmer Yunior Lestapier Pascual, 26 years old, who was intercepted and attacked by several people when he was preparing to leave the place.
The party took place last Wednesday, February 7, at the well-known site, famous for being the main entertainment center for university students in the territory.
The communicator contacted Yanelis Pascual, the young man’s mother, who revealed more details of what happened that night. According to her, there were five people who attacked her son.
“My son was stabbed four times, two of which affected his kidney and one his liver,” he said.
Pascual indicated that he was waiting for the next medical report, emphasizing that although his son is still reported as serious due to his injuries, he is now more stable.
“At least he’s walking, he’s eating, and thank God he hasn’t developed any clinical symptoms,” added the worried mother.
The woman indicated that those responsible for the incident have not been arrested by the National Revolutionary Police (PNR). In that sense, she urged the criminals to surrender to the authorities and potential witnesses to testify about what happened.
“Thank you very much for your publication, to see if that’s what they did or to see if anyone dares to go to the police and report what they saw, to see if they catch the little band that is causing quite a lot of havoc here in Santiago de Cuba.”
Likewise, he said that criminal gangs are causing problems in the province, and that his son’s case has not been the only one.
“Not only with my son, here I saw people arrive with blows to the head, machetes, I have seen havoc, havoc that they are doing,” he added.
Finally, Pascual denied a rumor that had been circulating on social media for several hours, which stated that his son had not survived the attack.
“My son is alive. Thank God, my son is alive. That is what everyone who is saying it would like, but my son is alive, Thank God,” he explained.
The journalist’s publication was accompanied by a photograph of the young man, who had some bandages around his arm and was being transferred in a wheelchair. He was conscious and waving at the camera, making it clear that he was feeling better.
