“That was the worst decision I’ve ever made in my life,” Jerome Gilchrist told The Advocate Daily News. “It bothered me every day to see someone like that with his leg cut off. A friend of Gilchrist notified his parents that he was injured, and the couple went to Harlem Hospital, where their son was hospitalized. seven hours in surgery and had to have his leg amputated due to infection.
