(ANSA) – BOLZANO, 29 AUG – The investigation by the Bolzano Public Prosecutor’s Office into the mysterious death of Aaron Engl, a 24-year-old woodcutter, found semi-decapitated on 18 August in a field above Terento, in Val Pusteria, is continuing at full speed. A meeting of the Public Prosecutor’s Office with the Parma RIS and the pathologist who performed the autopsy is expected in the coming days to take stock of the investigation, from which nothing has emerged for the moment. Interesting elements could come from the analysis of the dead man’s cell phone. For the moment, at least officially, investigators are investigating in all directions, not excluding any lead, from accident to crime. The young man died between 5 and 6 on the morning of Sunday 18 August. The previous evening he had attended a party and returned to Terento in a taxi with some friends at night. The dead man was not wearing his usual work overalls, but jeans and sneakers. The chainsaw was lying on the ground a short distance away, but not in the immediate vicinity, and traces of blood were found on the Mitsubishi Pajero off-road vehicle. Residents of the area claim to have heard two cars pass by that night, that of the young lumberjack, followed by a second car. According to a local rumor, yet to be verified, Aaron performed skill tests with the chainsaw, such as opening a bottle of beer with his beloved work tool or making wooden sculptures. Videos of similar feats, called challenges, can be found on social media, but investigators seem to give little credence to the hypothesis of an accident during such a challenge, also because it would leave too many questions unanswered (the blood on the car and the inevitable call to 112 from a witness).
