Young journalists apply for training until October 12-Agro Plovdiv – 2024-10-01 11:33:47


The initiative is of the European Parliament in partnership with BTA. Those who complete the 3-day course receive a certificate

European Parliament in partnership with the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) organizes training for young journalists by the national and regional media in Bulgaria on October 28, 29 and 30. The application deadline is October 12.

The training program will familiarize young journalists with the functioning of Community institutions with a focus on the European Parliament, European policies and their implementation in the member states based on the values ​​of the European Union.

The training is three days long and will be held on October 28, 29 and 30, 2024 in BTA, Sofia. Lecturers will again be leading experts on European issues and experienced active journalists: Prof. Ingrid Shikova, Assoc. Ivan Nachev, Maria Yurukova, Assoc. Georgi Lozanov, Assoc. Ralitsa Kovacheva, Dr. Parvan Simeonov, and journalists. The training will include Bulgarian MEPs, as well as representatives of the Bureau of the European Parliament in Bulgaria.

The training is in two modules: national and European. In the national module, general knowledge about the European institutions will be presented through presentations, lectures and discussions, specific media work on topics from the legislative priorities of the European Parliament is planned. The European module foresees training in February at the European Parliament in Brussels for two of the 14 participants, determined on the basis of the results of their performance in the national training.

Those who complete the training will receive a certificate from the European Parliament.

The trainings are aimed at young journalists and other media professionals such as social media content creators, multimedia managers, television content writers and data specialists.

Freelance journalists are allowed.

The requirements that applicants must meet are: Professional experience in media up to 3 years; completed higher or professional education; working knowledge of English; at the time of application to work for a national or local media in Bulgaria.

Applicants must submit a cover letter; biography in Europass format; portfolio with journalistic materials (articles, interviews, videos, etc.) in national or local media – for journalists; project portfolio – for media professionals (content creator, multimedia manager, etc.).

Preference will be given to applicants who provide a reference from their employer.
