Military Israel said a navy soldier was killed and two others wounded in fighting in northern Israel. An Israeli official said their ship may have been hit by Iron Dome in the attack Hizbullah.
“Officer First Class David Moshe Ben Shitrit, aged 21, was killed during combat in northern Israel,” the Israeli military said in a statement. AFPMonday (26/8/2024).
The Israeli military said the officer was in the navy and two others were also injured. They did not provide further details.

A military official said a preliminary investigation showed the soldier “died either directly from the Iron Dome interceptor or from shrapnel falling from the interceptor, which accidentally hit the Dvora-class fast patrol boat after it stopped its put on a UAV” shot down by Hezbollah.
“The details of the incident are being reviewed,” the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
Hezbollah said it fired a large number of rockets and drones at Israel on Sunday (25/8) following an Israeli attack on Lebanon which the military said was self-defence.
