Colin Browna young hockey player, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning after being the victim of a shooting on Interstate 55 in St. Louis Saturday evening.
The incident happened around 10.30pm near Loughborough Avenue as Colin and his family were returning home from one of his hockey matches. A stray bullet hit the young boy. His father, in shock, continued driving to the intersection of South 4th and Walnut streets, where police and emergency responders were waiting. Colin was rushed to hospital, where he was placed in intensive care. After several days in critical condition, he unfortunately died.
A publication of Tim Peel a few days ago said this:
Please pray for Colin Brown, 16, who was shot and is in critical condition in St. Louis. Colin was driving home with his father after attending a CBC-Marquette hockey game. This is a random and senseless shooting. It is absolutely tragic and heartbreaking.
Here is the press release from the St. Louis Blues today:
We are heartbroken after learning of the death of Colin Brown, a CBC and Affton Americans hockey player, who was tragically shot and killed while walking home from a game on November 23. Our thoughts are with Brown’s family, friends and teammates during this time.
Our organization will celebrate Colin’s life during a pre-game moment Saturday against Philadelphia, and proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will be donated to Colin’s family.
The mayor of St-Louis also reacted:
Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.
