A young Cuban died early this Friday due to a motorcycle accident in Baracoa, in the province of Guantánamo.
According to a publication shared by one of his friends, Anibal Ferrand, the young man, identified only as Fabio, would have been driving late on Thursday night when he had an accident.
The news was announced by Ferrand until the afternoon of this Friday, April 5, and hundreds of people came to the publication to leave their condolences.
According to the comments, the young man, originally from Baracoa, was an experienced driver, who had been on the motorcycle “all his life,” so the news of his accident and death took them by surprise.
Many wrote their condolences to the family and close friends, and several more expressed surprise at the death, some noting that they had not seen the man in years, but that they did not expect something like this.
At the moment the details of the accident are unknown, it is only known that the motorcycle was a blue MZ, and that Fabio had extensive experience driving it.
This accident comes just a week after another accident caused a stir in Baracoa, when on March 27 a truck and a bus covering the Baracoa-Santiago de Cuba route collided on the La Farola highway, leaving three injured.
Traffic accidents are a trend in Cuba in all types of vehicles, many point out that it is mainly due to the poor condition of the roads, but also to the lack of signage and lighting on them.
This, coupled with the difficulty in obtaining protective equipment such as helmets or special jackets for riding a motorcycle, represents a greater risk for those who depend on these two-wheeled vehicles for their daily lives.
