Young creates initiative and gives free virtual photography and film workshops

“I was always pursued by the idea of creating a space where audiovisual and cinematographic knowledge can be shared. I didn’t know how it was going to be executed, but when I started my studies in Cinematography in 2020, they taught me areas such as entrepreneurship and creativity and that’s how the light came on, ”said Santiago Velázquez, creator of the“ Rikchay ”initiative, which provides virtual workshops. of photography and film for free.

Through these courses, Santiago seeks to revalue the audiovisual industry in our country and encourage in young people the interest to deepen in this area. “The project has grown and I am very happy because I realized that there are students who want to learn. We have reached not only districts of Lima, but also regions such as Cusco, Puno, Trujillo, Piura and Tumbes. The last group was even made up of students from other countries ”, he highlighted in an interview with Full speaker.

“Rikchay” currently offers workshops on digital photography, professional retouching and film appreciation that can take up to three months. “We provide all the tools and we have a syllable. This year we have the objective of opening specialized courses in cinema, such as art direction, photography direction and production ”. It should be noted that people of any age can participate in this project and do not need prior knowledge.

On the other hand, thanks to the support of various institutions, Santiago has managed to implement a virtual library of film and photography books, which all students can access so that they continue to cultivate their knowledge. The workshops start every month and those interested in participating can communicate through the social networks of “Rikchay”.

Finally, several of the works of the initiative’s participants can be viewed through “Rikchay’s” Facebook and Instagram.
