Young Age Has 7 Times Stronger Antibodies Than Elderly After Vaccination

JAKARTA – People with younger age have antibody seven times stronger than the others. According to research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, younger people have more antibodies than older people.

Research conducted by Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) examined 50 participants who had received a second dose of Pfizer vaccine two weeks ago. They divided the participants according to their age, then tested their blood serum for antibodies produced by the strain corona virus original and one varian .

The study’s findings revealed that those in their 20s had an antibody response that was seven times stronger than people over 70. Data collected from the study showed a linear progression of low antibody levels from younger to older participants. The difference was wider between participants in their 20s and 70s.

The study’s co-authors explained that even though antibody response rates were low among older adults, getting vaccinated was important.

Vaccination is the only way to stay safe and reduce the risk of complications to the virus. Compared to natural infection, vaccination provide a stronger antibody response in older adults.

After all, getting the vaccine is the only way to protect against complications Covid-19 serious. Vaccination is especially important for older adults because their immune systems are low and they need more protection.
