“You’ll never walk alone” reunites Europe: call from “The inspector” Sven Pichal followed up en masse

A year ago, on Friday March 20, 2020 at 8:45 am exactly, 180 European radio stations will simultaneously play “You’ll never walk alone” by Gerry & The Pacemakers. An idea from the Dutch 3FM DJ Sander Hoogendoorn, to give everyone hope and courage. A year has now passed and we are still in the same boat. “Perhaps an ideal time to reunite with music,” said Radio 2 Inspector Sven Pichal at the beginning of this week.

That call did not fall on deaf ears. In the meantime, more than 100 radio stations from all over Europe – from Spain to Bulgaria – have confirmed to dial the number simultaneously tomorrow morning. And anyone who is just waiting for the metro or train in the morning will also get a musical heart.

Europe will follow

Soon after Sven Pichal’s call at the beginning of the week, all public and commercial radio stations in Flanders confirm. But smaller local broadcasters would also like to contribute and also let you know that they will play ‘You’ll never walk alone’ on Friday morning. And Europe will also follow.

Sven Pichal: “You notice that the measures are prevalent in all European countries and that everyone can use an extra boost. In the meantime, more than 100 radio stations from all over Europe have already announced that they will play ‘You’ll never walk alone’ tomorrow at 8.45 am. ” The list of countries and radio stations continues to grow. The countries that have already confirmed are the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Georgia, Slovakia, Montenegro and Turkey.

In all train and metro stations

Especially in our own country, the campaign is receiving much support. For example, the public transport companies De Lijn, STIB and NMBS will dial the number in their train, metro and pre-metro stations tomorrow morning at 8.45 am. But the Radio 2 listeners also jump on the cart.

Sven Pichal: “I already received a message from Chris, a Belgian who lives in Bangkok. He teaches there in a cooking school and will play Radio 2 very loudly while cooking, so that the 300 students can enjoy themselves. There are also a lot of listeners who calls for the radio to be set up in all hospitals, because people can certainly use extra strength and courage there. It’s great that this campaign, just like Sander last year, stirs up so much in people.
