Pedro Pablo Pichardo’s father, Jorge Pichardo, commented this Monday on the controversy surrounding his son and Nélson Évora, which broke out after the Barcelona athlete said that the European triple jump champion had been bought by Portugal to have results “short term”.
In an interview with SIC Notícias, the coach left guarantees in case new attacks arise. “You won’t have problems with Pedro, you’ll have problems with me”, he assured.
Jorge Pichardo also recalled his arrival in the country and the relationship he had with Nélson Évora. “When we arrived in Portugal he spoke to us. He trained… they gave Pedro his nationality, he spoke to us, he got along with us. From one day to the next, it seems to have been a problem that they gave Pedro his nationality… at least me and my son, it’s like I didn’t know him”.
Jorge Pichardo devalues Nélson Évora’s declarations and considers them “annoying and clowning”. “They say that Nélson attacks, is bullying… They don’t know what bullying is. And we don’t understand that. What they do here, talk and criticize… is it bullying?… That doesn’t worry us”, he said .
“But it seems that, as when he did it the first time, he didn’t get an answer, it seems that he thinks he can continue to do it. It was time for Pedro to respond so that they know that Pedro is good both on and off the track . Do you understand? So that there are no mistakes. It is the only thing we have. And that is why I am saying all this”, he stressed.
