It seems that we won’t be sitting with bated breath in cinemas because of the violence.
Todd Phillips didn’t take on just any task in 2019, as he sat down in the director’s chair knowing that Joker would have to be presented from a completely new side, without Batman. He succeeded, and not only because the film brought in more than 1 billion dollars, but Joaquin Phoenix, who played the title character, also received an Oscar for his performance. And this alone was enough to get the green light for the sequel, and although we had to wait 5 years for the second act, we will finally be able to sit down to see it in cinemas in 2024. For those who are interested, Folie à Deux is a deterrent for many because of its genre, which has been revealed based on the preliminary news.
However, the lucky ones came out of the first test screenings well before the premiere with very positive comments. Furthermore, it has now been revealed that the Motion Picture Association’s rating committee has revealed that it has given the film an R rating. According to the reason, this was done because some gross violence, foul language, a dose of sexuality and a short scene showing complete nudity can be seen and heard. Who would have thought that one day we could even see the Joker in a string, right?

Joker conquers with his charms
Perhaps this should not be surprising, since the Oscar-winning Joker also received the same classification, but for different reasons. However, it seems that this time Folie à Deux will be a little less violent, but it places more emphasis on the less tolerant language of printing ink and on sexuality. Incidentally, in the film we will be able to admire the second large-scale live-action performance of Harley Quinn, as in one of the eagerly awaited productions of DC Elseworlds – after Margot Robbie – Lady Gaga takes on the role. The character will probably still be played by Margot Robbie in the real DC universe, if Harley Quinn and James Gunn are expected, of course.
Joker: Folie à Deux will seek to portray the twisted romance between Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck / Joker and Gaga’s Harley Quinn, and most of the film will reportedly take place in Arkham Asylum. In addition to the two main actors, Zazie Beetz, Brendon Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland will also appear on the screen.
Joker: Folie à Deux hits theaters on October 4. We can expect the first trailer next week.
