The actor appreciates Soviet culture.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s Russian fans never tire of declaring his Russian roots. The American actor is very attached to our country: his grandmother’s name at his birth was Elena Smirnova. In some interviews he assures that there were Russians in his family along the line of his grandfather, which means that he can be considered 50% such.
Also, in the past, DiCaprio seriously allegedly visited his grandmother’s homeland. True, the actor never got to Perm, but he came to St. Petersburg 12 years ago. Leonardo does not hide his love for Russian culture. He is known as a collector of paintings and a special place in his collections is occupied by Soviet posters of film premieres.
The actor keeps all the works at home. A few years ago he organized an exhibition of the collection, showing the creations of Salvador Dali, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso and other artists. Among them was a place for Hollywood Golden Film posters. But DiCaprio did not want to show posters with films from the USSR.
