You will probably see yourself in the new video “Apple at Work”

You may remember that last year Apple dropped a video showing how a motley group of outsiders in a fictional packaging company overcame a number of obstacles to create a revolutionary “round box” in just two days starting with nothing but a sketch. The team had all the Apple devices to help them create the box and deliver a prototype to the boss on time.

Apple promotes its devices for those who work at home

Apple has decided to revisit these characters for a new video that talks about the team that is taking over the “Pandora’s Box” project. But in 2020, the team is now working from home. All of the familiar things that you have personally faced this year while working from home become obstacles that the team has to overcome. A team member asks, “What day is it?” And designing a work schedule is not easy. “10 minutes for lunch?” It takes 15 minutes to prepare lunch, ”complains a member of the team.

Meanwhile, Apple devices are everywhere. An iPhone is used in place of a scanner to send team members the specifications of the box. The iPad, iMac and MacBook are working hard with the Apple Watch and AirPods wireless Bluetooth headphones playing a small part. Even Siri gets a ride while the digital assistant is asked to read a bedtime story (without monsters) to two children belonging to a member of the team.

The team receives bad news when the meeting progresses and the budget is halved. But the AR measurement app on iPad is used to help find a solution. Soon it is the day of the presentation and when the client joins the meeting, the video ends. While last year’s video had the slogan “Apple at work”, this year the line reads “Apple at home work”.

As Apple says, ” It’s always a world of deadlines, meetings, group discussions, conference calls, colleagues and bosses. But it is also a world of children, a hairless dog and cat. And it’s a world where collaboration never fails, whether the team uses the iPad, iPhone, iMac, MacBook or all of the above. Working from home (or from anywhere) is not new, but what you can do together is. ”

Apple’s web page at work lists a number of features that help a team get things done. For example, the Calendar app can share a calendar across multiple devices and manage different teams with different projects in different locations. With Notes, users can sign, scan and share documents. Speaking of sharing, documents tagged using Apple Pencil on an iPad or a finger on the iPhone can be shared between team members. And as we saw in the video, documents scanned by an iPhone automatically appear on an iPad or Mac.

Discussing how corporate devices are helping people become more productive, whether they’re working from an office or a home, Apple says, ” unleashes the potential of people to do their best no matter where they are. From an office abroad to a wind farm in the West via your kitchen table, you and your team will have the power to be productive, creative and collaborative. And it’s easy and secure for IT to broadcast the show wherever you are. ”

No one knows for sure when we will feel safe in the office again. For the time being, however, with the particular challenges that everyone faces when working from home, much of the technology used to get the job done during this period is relatively new. Computers are the oldest, followed by smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and AirPods.
