If you’ve been paying Spotify Premium for years just because it lets you listen to hours of ad-free music and podcasts, you might not appreciate the new functionality that Spotify is bringing to podcast makers. As you know, the platform ultimately pays very little content creators for each listening.
The latter therefore increasingly resort to partnerships with brands, and it is not uncommon for a podcast to be interspersed with a few advertisements or sponsored segments. Even when viewed from a Spotify Premium account. However, until then, these ads were a false problem for users, since it was quite easy to pass them to listen to the rest of the podcast. This is changing with the new “Call to action” cards for creators.
Spotify launches clickable advertising card called “Call to action”
These cards appear in the app when you listen to an ad segment in a podcast. They contain attractive graphics, some text and most importantly a clickable link that allows creators to earn a commission. However, long after listening, the same ad is likely to appear in the app, so it becomes very difficult to simply ignore it.
Spotify explains: “Call to action cards appear in the app as soon as an ad starts in a podcast, and reappear later when you explore the Spotify app – to make it easier to visit the brand, product or site. the service you were told about while listening. CTA cards make it easy to directly discover products and services that interest you without having to remember a promo code or URL ”, explains Spotify.
For the time being, Spotify only offers these new advertising inserts on a selection of original American content. However, there is little doubt that the firm will quickly offer the same thing in the rest of the world, including France. Spotify concludes: “Advertising companies have something to be very excited about – our tests showed a doubling of visits with these new clickable ads compared to non-clickable ads in podcasts”.
