While there are already ways to transfer a playlist from one service to another, they are often complex and usually require going through a third-party service. But that’s all about to change…
It is the Apple brand that has taken a first step towards better integration between Apple and Google’s music services. Indeed, Apple has just released two new notices on its official support pages: one for Transfer a playlist from a third-party service to Apple Music and another one for the reciprocal.
While the page titles simply mention “a third-party service,” in reality, for the moment, the choice is rather limited, since the only service from which it is possible to transfer is for the moment YouTube Music. No Spotify on the horizon, but that could change in the more or less near future.
Note that during the transfer, your playlists (which can only be transferred if you created them) will certainly be moved to the new service, but as you might expect, they will still be available on the service from which the transfer was made.
To transfer the playlist from YouTube to Apple, you will need to go to Google Takeout. In the other direction, you will have to go through the Apple Data and Privacy.
