One of the advantages of playing on PC is the control and freedom for players to install their games wherever they want, on their storage units. But also the possibility of creating modifications for the games, some so popular that they become commercial products, such as Dota 2, CS: GO and many others.
Until now, the Xbox PC application limited installations to the folder on the predefined drive, but Microsoft is already testing the functionality that frees up external drives, allowing you to install games wherever you want. Xbox Insiders program users are already experimenting with the functionality. Another change concerns the locations where the same game is installed, whether purchased from Microsoft’s digital store or downloaded for free from Game Pass. It will be possible to decide where each installation goes.
Perhaps the best news is that users will be able to access files from the respective game folder, which means they will be able to make modifications to the games. And as an incentive, the application will even indicate whether a game supports mods or not.

The application will also have a dedicated cloud gaming tab, to make it easier for Game Pass subscribers to find supported titles to play on Xcloud. Finally, Microsoft wants to continue to optimize the application to make it easier to download games, update, as well as make the process even faster. Developers will also find life easier with the introduction of cross-save recordings and achievements.
