“Thank you for my late night sandwich. For your warm smile. You were a pillar in this community.”
These phrases of affection and gratitude on the facade of a grocery store in Manhattan say the last goodbye to a 67-year-old grocer, who according to the police, was shot in the head by the man in the image, killing him.
Enrique Quinto, administrator of a nearby building, sadly recounts having met the victim.
“There are people who worked there when there was an assault and they no longer want to work there. They leave work,” Quinto said.
The crime took place on Friday at the Daona deli, located at 201 East 81st Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan at about 11:30 p.m.
“Because they come to assault with a pistol, they don’t come like that,” added Quinto.
The suspect covered his face, an act that after the pandemic seems common, but is taken advantage of by criminals to hide, says Fernando Mateo of the Winery Association.
“That is what we do not want to allow in our warehouses. Whoever arrives like this, there is no problem. He takes it off and puts it on,” Mateo said.
The subject would also be responsible for three other armed robberies, which occurred from February 25 to March 3 at two warehouses in Brooklyn and one in the Bronx, where he made off with almost $3,000 in cash as well as other items.
Faced with the difficulty of capture for “covering up”, Mateo wants to apply the idea of ”unveiled face” immediately.
“We are implementing it through this ‘sticker,’ which we are going to put on the doors of the warehouses,” added Mateo.
After committing his misdeeds, the investigators point out that the individual fled on a scooter.
Subject is described as being about 6 feet and 200 pounds in weight. You should be considered armed and dangerous.
The winemakers’ association is offering a reward of $5,000 and the police $10,000 to find the suspect. If you know something you can call 1-888-57-PISTA.
