You should go here for nice weather on Sunday

FANTASTIC!: Remi Andersen (49) (th) and his son Alver Inderhaug (10) had a great time skiing at Sognsvann on Sunday.

MARKA (VG) Many were lucky with glorious sunshine and great skiing on Saturday. But even if a change in weather is expected in several places, there will still be hope for another great day on Sunday – if you go to the right places, according to meteorologists.

On Saturday, there was glorious sunshine in several places in the country, and in Oslomarka Remi Andersen (49) and his son Alver Inderhaug (10) took the chance.

– Absolutely fantastic, it’s winter days like these that you long for, says Andersen.

They were on a trip with a family of friends.

– It was great weather, beautiful trees, calm wind, lots of cheerful people and good bowls at Skjennungstua, he says.

For the son, it wasn’t too long and arduous either.

– We have a trick that works. We drove to Tryvann and then we went home. Then it will be mostly downhill, reveals Andersen.

SKIING LUCK: For many, the perfect windy day is best on the ski slopes. Here at Sognsvann in Oslo on Sunday.

They also plan to take the chance again on Sunday.

– We take it easy and start so we can put on our skis at home. So maybe we’ll go inside Maridalen tomorrow.

But when VG reveals the meterologist’s tips for hunting the sun on Sunday, Andersen considers changing the route.

– It could affect where we go, so maybe we’d rather go to Lillomarka, says Andersen.

Cold, but nice

Meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Martin Granerød, says that it is very cold in many places on Saturday afternoon.

– We see that in the interior it is down to between -20 and -25 degrees, says Granerød.

At Fagernes, for example, it was -23.5 degrees, and in Hemsedal -22.3. In Drammen it was −13.5 degrees.

– So it is also cold in many places closer to the Oslofjord, says Granerød

But despite the freezing temperatures, many people went out into the woods, fields and ski slopes on Saturday.

– Many have had a nice and sunny day skiing during Saturday, although some have also been troubled by low cloud cover, which has been in the way of the sun. This particularly applies to the central eastern country areas and further east, says Granerød.

HOPE FOR SUN: On-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød at the Meteorological Institute has a couple of words of advice for those who want to hunt ski slopes with sun on Sunday.

Two tips for finding the sun

Tomorrow it will be a little warmer, but still on the cold side.

– Some will be lucky and get periods of sun, but there will be a hint of more of the low clouds lying around and annoying, some tolerable and low cloud cover which you would rather not have, says Granerød.

However, he has some tips for those who want to maximize their chance of sun.

– Open water that does not freeze tends to get more of these low clouds, he says.

So avoid these areas if you want to hunt for sun on the slopes.

– Go up in altitude and head west rather than east to avoid the clouds. But these clouds live a life of their own, so it is difficult to pinpoint exactly where they are going, says Granerød.

Many places in Western Norway also had a very nice day on Saturday. But it doesn’t look as bright here on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Institute, there will be increasing winds from Stad and the coastal areas may experience strong gales.

MORE OF THIS: Many people greatly appreciate sunny days with skis on their feet. Here at Sognsvann in Oslo.

Farevarsel for is

It hasn’t been too bad in Troms and Finnmark on Saturday either, but there a new low pressure will lead to strong gales, and small storms in exposed places. This particularly applies in coastal areas, according to Granerød.

– There will be a lot more weather there – especially through the evening, night and tomorrow Sunday, with strong south-westerly winds and lots of high waves on the coast.

– Sunday evening it calms down somewhat, but then a new low pressure will arrive from Monday, with strong south-westerly winds, so we will have a corresponding risk of a small storm then.

In addition, they have sent out danger warnings for ice in Nordland, Troms and Finmark.

– It’s getting a little warmer so we run the risk of sleet and rain which then freezes to ice, says Granerød.

Southern Norway, like Eastern Norway, also had a pretty nice day today, with low cloud cover in some places.

– There will be less cloud cover tomorrow, but they can be lucky and get some nice periods, says Granerød.
